That’s a heart dog.

You love all your animals, of course you do… but every now and then, one quietly steals just a little more of your heart.

That’s my Brucey Boy. ❤️

Bruce has seen the very best and the very worst of me, and through it all, he has always been right there beside me. No judgement. No conditions. Just unwavering loyalty.

Bruce was my second show dog, and the dog who helped bring the British Bulldog back into the show ring here in WA. Ask most people who have spent time around our ring who Bruce is, and chances are they’ll know exactly who you mean.

He’s now semi-retired and living his best life — kicking back, farting, burping, destroying pretty much every toy that gets placed anywhere near his paws, and generally reminding us all that retirement is clearly treating him very well. 😂

But what a ride this boy has taken me on.

From his very first Perth Royal Show, where he came home with Best Baby Puppy of Group, through to Best in Group and several In Show awards, Bruce has given me memories I will treasure forever.

We pushed each other to the limit more times than I can count. There were challenges, big moments, huge wins and plenty of lessons along the way.

And every single time, Bruce gave me everything he had — and then somehow found a little bit more.

He has been my partner, my teammate, my shadow and, on more days than he will ever know, my comfort.

My once-in-a-lifetime boy. ❤️

Although semi-retired, Bruce will still have a place in our breeding program as time permits, because a dog who has given us so much has certainly earned the right to leave a little piece of himself behind.
